Meet Hajara
Meet Hajara. Before joining our training program, she spent her life feeling excluded. Children and young people with disabilities face immense challenges in Uganda. With your support, Hajara is now embracing her right to be productive and finally feels included. Thank you!
"When I was very little, I contracted cerebral malaria which affected me both physically and mentally. Growing up, I didn’t understand why I wasn’t allowed in school. Teachers always turned me away. When I was around 7, I borrowed a friend’s uniform and gathered all the money I could find to pay for a term, but they still wouldn’t accept me. My family didn’t support me to achieve.
I’m so happy that I am accepted here. I have friends, I get food, and I can learn. I feel like I’m finally out in the world and people can see me."
