Merry Christmas from your friends in Kampala
Whether you celebrate Christmas (or any festival) at this time of year or not, it's a good opportunity for us to show love to the people that mean the most to us - like you!
You've have made a huge difference to children like Brian, Vivien, Richard and Delphine pictured here at home with their foster mum Sarah.
You may remember that Sarah heroically stepped in to care for Brian and his sister Vivien after their mother died suddenly, despite already having Richard, Delphine and four other orphaned children in her care.
Eight of them live in this one small room made from corrugated iron that you can see in the photo below.
Because of your support, we have been able to help Sarah grow her businesses (she has many - she is unstoppable!) and her income which means she can now buy enough food, clothing and medication for all the children in her extended family.
She is striving to give them all a stable family life where, even if they don't have much, the children feel loved and safe.
She is only able to offer them a home because of the support you have given us - and for this we are eternally grateful.
Sarah's dream is to be able to save enough to buy a small plot of land outside the slum, where she can build a bigger place and grow their own food.
We're hoping that 2017 brings Sarah and all our friends in Kampala a step closer to achieving their hopes and dreams.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
With lots of festive love from your friends at Awamu x
