Building sustainability of our local partner
One of Awamu’s key goals as an organisation is to shift the power to our grassroots partners Tusitukirewamu in Uganda, investing resources and support to help them become a resilient, financially sustainable and independent organisation. So they have the freedom and structure in place to use their expert, local knowledge to make decisions about how they work, how they design their response and who they are accountable to.
Working with a local consultant, Tusitukirewamu have developed a new strategic plan & resource mobilisation strategy, with a focus on developing their own income streams.
The team are now implementing this strategy with considerable success - this has included directly securing a grant of over $60,000 from Amplify Change for vital advocacy work around child motherhood and access to education!
Congratulations team!
