“One of our fundraising events invovled screening a bank heist movie in the vaults of the old Bank of England!”
In 2009 and 2011 I visited Kampala and met with the women and children working with Amamu. These women’s determination to better their situation and their children’s enthusiasm for school inspired me to work with Emma, Steve and our friends in Kampala to give more children the opportunities that stem from an education. I’d like to think I bring their work ethic into my Magic Lantern fundraising. My friend Joey and myself organise fundraising film nights in unique locations in Bristol. We have put on 21 events to date ranging from a bank heist movie in an old bank vault, a cycle-powered al-fresco screening, a pancake fueled scout hut screening and a screening of Nosferatu with a live score in a cathedral. Current total raised £3906! Fun-o-meter 100%.
